The real value is passion
A quick look at the world’s top 100 collectors rankings of The Key, the yearbook by TCCT.
For TCCT, Ralph Lauren who owns the world’s most valuable collection and the enthusiast who restored an old Mini bought at any old market, are exactly same. We know Ralph Lauren and his passion, and we know it’s the same for everyone who loves historic cars. That’s why today we want to introduce some famous “colleagues” who are part of the world’s top-ranked collectors published in The Key, the yearbook by TCCT. In reality, we don’t really know the 2020 rankings yet. The Key comes out in December.
But let’s have a look in the rankings from the previous two years. For example, Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance, the Canadian Formula 1 driver and now executive chairman of the re-emerging Aston Martin marque, has some of the most famous Ferraris in the history of the Cavallino. He keeps them in his collection for which he also bought nothing less than a full racing circuit at Mont Tremblant. Two cars among many: the “Pontoon Fender” Testa Rossa and the Ferrari P4 still in the same condition it was in when it crossed the line to win the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967.
Among the world’s top 100 collectors, we could not omit Bernie Ecclestone, the man who created modern Formula 1. Ecclestone’s collection is magnificent in that it tells the true story of Formula 1, from the Brabham Alfa with its massive, rear-mounted vacuum cleaner that won with Lauda in Sweden to the first Ferrari to win a Grand Prix: Silverstone 1951 with Gonzalez behind the wheel.
There are not only collectors related to the world of sport in the ranking of The Key: Julio Palmaz, for example, invented a vascular stent for angioplasty surgery. This success allowed Dr. Palmaz to cultivate his great hobbies that include wine from Napa Valley and cars. He owns a magnificent collection of racing cars that have won important races: some examples? The Porsche RSK that won the Targa Florio in 1959 and an RS-60, winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring. The heart beats strongly!
We could go on. In fact, we’ll do precisely that while we wait for the upcoming release of The Key. And for those who wish to know everything, order your copy today. Here, on our website.
