Difficult goal

And so we’re now down to the final 8 contenders for the TCCT Classic Car Trophy… A first observation: all the pre-war models are out of the race. Memory couldn’t even help the magnificent Bugatti Atlantic, Mercedes SSK, Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport and the Delahaye. The Stratos and Bugatti EB 110 put up a determined fight to survive, but it wasn’t enough: The Porsche 930 Turbo and the Ferrari 166MM got the better of them. Also out, for a somewhat unfair battle against the likes of the Mercedes 300 SL and Ferrari F40, are the Audi Quattro and Bugatti EB 110. But the draw wasn’t kind to them.

Who are the favourites as our contenders line up at the starting grid of the next group? It’s hard to say: the challenge is between five models from the ’50s and three later models: these include the Lamborghini Miura, the Ferrari F40 and the Porsche 930 Turbo. The five most “elderly” contenders in the contest are the Alfa Romeo Villa d’Este, Ferrari 166MM, Mercedes 300SL, BMW 507 and Ferrari 250 California. A challenge you can’t quit so, come on, head over to the The Classic Car Trust (TCCT) Instagram account and vote!
