Elton John. Magnificent notes, exceptionally British

Singer, songwriter, pianist, composer but also a great car enthusiast. Sir Elton John, the artist who has sold over 300 million records across the world and has been awarded no fewer than five Grammy Awards, five Brit Awards and two Globe Awards, seems to have always had a crush on British cars.

Here are some of the most iconic cars from the billionaire garage of Sir Elton John:

1959 Bentley Continental Sport Saloon

Bought by Elton John in 1976, the same year of the huge hit “Sorry seems to be the hardest word”.

1960 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur Sports Saloon

The car was purchased in Norfolk in the 1970s by Elton John, so it seems likely that he was the fourth owner.

1965 Jaguar XKE 4.2-Litre Series I Roadster

Purchased in 1987, a year to forget for the pianist: divorce from Renate Blauel while alcohol and drug addiction was getting worse.

1985 Bentley Continental Convertible

It featured prominently in the video for Elton John’s hit single of that same year, ‘Nikita’, where he is seen being driven in icy conditions and admiring a Russian soldier of that same name.

1992 Jaguar XJ220

The car was bought in 1992, the year in which Sir Elton John smashed the US Charts with the album ‘The one’ which sold over 2 million copies.

1997 Aston Martin V8 Vantage V550

The car was delivered to Sir Elton John in 1997, a successful year for the sales of the single ‘Candle in the wind 1997’ which sold over 33 million copies in the world, but also a tragic year for the premature death of his close friend, the Princess Lady Diana.
